“Stress and sleepless nights are closely linked,” Buenaver says. “If you’re in pain, tend to worry, or are coping with a difficult situation in your life, you may have more stress hormones than usual circulating in your body. A poor night’s sleep adds even more. And those hormones may never be fully broken down. It’s like running an engine in fifth gear all the time.”
It was a few months after the birth of our second child that I came to truly understand the effects of long-term sleep deprivation. Constantly waking up at 1:00 or 3:00 a.m. soon turned daily life into a hazy blur. I'd often find myself lying in bed, anticipating the next round of crying, or later in the night, I'd be tossing and turning for ages after being woken up. It's no fun whatsoever to drag yourself out of bed every morning with dark circles under your eyes. During this time, it became … [Read more...]

I was not looking forward to returning back to my house as I live on my own so was very pleased to see that the “equisync” CDs had arrived in my absence. Ever since I have been back I put a CD on each evening and the change has been totally fantastic. The meditation is unbelievably calming and soothing, the inner-voice has been silenced and quite often I just put it on to drop off to sleep with the sound of gently falling rain. I can feel each day starting calmly and things like organising the memorial service have not been the strain and upset I would normally have expected. I could wax lyrical for hours because the benefits are truly and utterly fantastic. Never did I think I would find anything that would lift my spirits, clear my mind, calm the inner space but Equi-Sync has done that, and more.
So, I tried those frequencies. And after listening to the 1st one (High Beta to Gamma, Isochronic tones: 18HZ ramped up to 40HZ within 20 minutes) – I immediately stood up and started organizing! (Something that I kept forgetting to do!) Overall, I’ve found that isochronic tones & monaural beats are more immediately effective than binaural beats, though they are still good.
This is a deep Theta MP3 meditation, ramping in steps slowly down to 5.5 Hz. Many people may find this MP3 is so deep that they fall asleep during the session. Others may experience lucid visualizations, since this level of Theta is closely correlated with REM sleep. Deep theta meditation designed for those who have troubles reaching trance states. This MP3 can be used with either headphones or speakers.
Laughter releases endorphins that improve mood and decrease levels of the stress-causing hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Laughing tricks your nervous system into making you happy. Our suggestion: watch some classic Monty Python skits like “The Ministry of Silly Walks.” Those Brits are so hilarious, you’ll soon be cracking up, rather than cracking up.
The stress of the mind control eventually causes Anabel to pass out, forcing Guile to use her as a hostage in order to force Noland to give him the Jirachi Report, which contains the secrets of how to make Jirachi grant his wish. When Noland is unsure about what to do, Guile attacks him and takes the report by force. Now knowing Jirachi's secret, Guile has Jirachi create a gigantic Kyogre made of seawater and uses it to flood the entire Battle Frontier. Anabel is taken to safety by Latios and later awakens to help the Frontier Brains fight off Guile's rental Pokémon while Emerald and the other Pokédex holders fight Guile. Eventually, Emerald and the Pokédex holders manage to defeat Guile and destroy the gigantic Kyogre monster. The day after, an injured Anabel and the other Frontier Brains congratulate Emerald for the hard work he put into saving everyone. Anabel then awards Emerald the Ability Symbol for his skills in traversing the Battle Tower.
While people have full control of themselves when they are conscious, it’s a whole different ballgame when it comes to dealing with their subconscious. However, with regular production of Theta brainwaves, you’re able to eliminate any emotional blockages you may have, allowing you to accept suggestions and ideas more, helping you re-program your brain to suit your needs.

In general, we are accustomed to being in the beta brain rhythm. We are in a Beta brainwave pattern when we are consciously alert. It is the default and dominant brainwave for most of us most of the time. We are in Beta when we feel agitated, tense, hurried, pressured, afraid and stressed. The frequencies range from 13 to 60 pulses per second in the Hertz scale.
When you're having a hell of a day—good or bad—checking out for 10-15 minutes is revitalizing. Find a place where you can be alone (and definitely ditch the cell phone)—the attic, the bathroom, a quiet cafe, a big oak tree—and wipe the slate clean for a few minutes. Do whatever it is that relaxes you: Meditate, read a novel, sing or sip tea. It's crucial to take just a few minutes everyday to de-stress. It's not how much time you allot, but being consistent that's important.
* We made the decision in this update to return Brain Wave to a Portrait-Only App. We know some people will miss the Landscape UI, but we did this to focus on the Brainwave Entrainment and Audio experience, and to prepare for new devices and screen sizes. Maintaining and testing portrait and landscape layouts for iOS 5-8, HD&SD, and 3 Aspect Ratios had become the single most time consuming part of our development and testing, and soon there will be even more. 90% of our dev and testing time was spent tilting iPads and iPhones of different sizes and different iOS versions, tweaking code that had nothing to do with brainwave entrainment--the reason I and others use this app everyday. Once the new Aspect Ratio devices come out and we have time to test with them, then maybe Landscape will make a comeback on the iPad.
If you’ve used brainwave entrainment and experienced any benefits, feel free to share your experience in the comments section below. Be sure to discuss why you believe the entrainment was effective and/or whether you think it could’ve been a placebo effect. I’ve played around with the products and feel as if they are great for relaxation enhancement, inducing a temporary perceptual change (i.e. altered state of consciousness), and arousal reduction.
A few months ago I decided to test the ability of the “Equisync II” brainwaves therapy combined with other more traditional self-improvement programs and the results have been even more amazing to me. Currently in my mind I honestly believe this type of therapy can be a breakthrough, or simply the genesis of a new type of therapeutic techniques to correct several psychological, and behavioral human issues including depression, lack of organization, and self-esteem among many, many other possibilities.

Allow this magical underwater MP3 to take you into a world of your own. This recording brings the user down to a low Alpha state, at 8.5 Hz. This is a deeper session than the “Daydream” meditation, but high enough that inexperienced users should have no problem using it. This can be used with headphones or speakers. Please remember to never listen to these recordings whilst driving or operating machinery of any kind.
Binaural beats are acoustically generated frequencies that match the frequency bands of brain waves and are therefore considered a means to inducing neurophysiological relaxation. There is, however, large dispute on the scientific quality and validity of extant research on binaural beats. Thus, the effect of a binaural 10Hz (Alpha) stimulation on subjective and physiological parameters ... [Show full abstract]Read more
By  tagging the transplanted organoid and creating a  glass window in the skull, the group was able  to keep track of where it was in the mouse brain. The first thing they noticed was that compared to organoids kept in a dish, the organoids that had been successfully transplanted into the mouse brain shared more features with a human brain. The normal human brain has a network of cavities, which are filled by cerebrospinal fluid and is also formed up  of distinct layers of neuronal cells, which mature over time. In the  dish, organoids develop a cavity and begin to form different cell layers  like in a real brain, however, the cells that make up the layers do not  fully mature. When the researchers compared the different cell types  present in the implanted organoids vs. those that were formed in a dish,  they detected a higher number of mature neurons and also other cell  types, such as the star-shaped support cells of the brain, called astrocytes, which are not usually found in lab-grown organoids.

Magic happens with this amazingly deep meditation MP3. Delta stimulation can be very hypnotic, and Sub-Delta (0 – 1 Hz) in particular is theorized to have soothing effects on the limbic system, such as the amygdala and hypothalamus which themselves operate at delta frequencies. These neural structures are associated with emotions, fear, the fight-or-flight response, blood pressure, tension and more. Many people have found success using Delta as an aid in meditation. Using sub-delta to sooth these structures has resulted in amazing success helping health conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain and hypertension (high blood pressure). Its soothing effects on the limbic system may shed some light on this.
Anxiety: In a review of brainwave entrainment research, there were several studies that investigated short-term stress relief as well as long-term stress or “burnout.” Several used modalities of auditory stimulation, while a couple used audio-visual entrainment. Those with heightened short-term stress and anxiety were undergoing medical treatments, experiencing addiction, and/or were just anxious adults.
Doing almost any routine, repetitive activity (like vacuuming, shredding paper or knitting), or reciting a word that represents how you wish you felt (such as calm) is a quick way to achieve a Zen-like state. Studies show the effects lower blood pressure and slow heart rate and breathing. The crucial elements are to focus on a word, your breathing or a movement and to bring your attention back to your task if your mind wanders or negative thoughts intrude. Or look to your faith for a mantra: A recent study published in the Journal of Advanced Nursing found that repeating phrases with spiritual meanings helped participants cope with a range of problems, from anxiety to insomnia.
In much the same way, Christian fundamentalism is a parasitic ideology that inserts itself into brains, commanding individuals to act and think in a certain way — a rigid way that is intolerant to competing ideas. We know that religious fundamentalism is strongly correlated with what psychologists and neuroscientists call “magical thinking,” which refers to making connections between actions and events when no such connections exist in reality. Without magical thinking, the religion can’t survive, nor can it replicate itself. Another cognitive impairment we see in those with extreme religious views is a greater reliance on intuitive rather than reflective or analytic thought, which frequently leads to incorrect assumptions since intuition is often deceiving or overly simplistic.

That all said, we are all different and have our own different limits. So I generally advise that you just be aware of how you are feeling, and if you feel like you are getting a bit fatigued from it, it’s probably time to stop or at least take a break. When listening over long extended periods, I recommend that you keep yourself well-hydrated. Your brain needs a good supply of water to function well, especially if you are studying hard and increasing your brainwave electrical activity.
Later, while Emerald is challenging the Battle Pyramid, Noland is attacked by an unknown assailant and several rental Pokémon are stolen. After Noland is taken to a hospital, the other Frontier Brains begin to suspect Emerald as the culprit. They head to the Battle Pyramid to confront Emerald and find him after having defeated Brandon. When they ask him about what happened, Emerald reveals that he did not attack Noland and is actually after the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi. The Frontier Brains find Emerald's explanation suspicious, but decide to follow him into Artisan Cave, where Jirachi is currently located at. Upon arriving, everyone is attacked by a horde of wild Smeargle while Emerald continues inside to find Jirachi. After the Frontier Brains get past the Smeargle, they meet up with Emerald, who has managed to find Jirachi. Emerald attempts to capture Jirachi, but is attacked by Guile Hideout, the actual culprit who attacked Noland. When Jirachi runs off, Emerald attempts to pursue it, only to be attacked by the rental Pokémon Guile had stolen. The other Frontier Brains attempt to avenge Noland by attacking Guile, but are swiftly defeated.
Everyone experiences stress, and not all stress is bad. Individuals who experience acute episodic or chronic stress are at increased risk for developing stress-related health problems. Research supports the idea that exercise can improve the way the body handles stress, and it can provide a time-out from stressors. Exercise programs meeting the current recommendations for health included within a stress management program can be effective in stress reduction. However, it is important to consider the client’s stressors and physical activity barriers, activities the client will enjoy, and the exercise setting. Prescribing exercise for clients seeking stress management is recommended, but fitness professionals should recognize that some clients will need additional assistance for managing stress and major life stressors.
Exercise is one of the best ways to reduce stress. “When you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which are hormones that fight stress,” says Frank Lupin, MS, ATC, PES, a certified athletic trainer and a personal trainer for Coordinated Health in Bethlehem, Pa. “Exercise helps you get your mind off your problems and clears your head,” adds Thomas Plante, PhD, an associate professor of psychology at Santa Clara University in California. Here are eight different kinds of exercise that can heighten energy and provide stress relief.
With regard to listening without headphones specifically, you might find it irritating if you are someone who suffers from motion sickness, depending on how the track is created. If you were listening to binaural beats, they really need headphones to work properly. If you are in a room and closer to one speaker you may not even hear binaural beats properly, and if sitting off centre in the room generally, that may have unsettled you if you have motion sickness as the tones try to form a beat in your head. If it was just a standard isochronic tones theta track that shouldn’t be irritating if you have motion sickness.
By exposing an individual to repeatedly external stimulus which can be flashing lights and/or recurring sounds, the entrainment process consists in pushing the brain to adjust to match the frequency provided. Unlike other forms of neurotherapy which require the individual to actively respond to stimulus, entrainment creates an immediate neurophysical response which is instinctive and effortless for the person being provided with the light and/or sound combinations. The key outcome of the sensory stimulation is known as the ‘Frequency Following Response’.
Delta brainwaves are produced and associated with states of deep sleep and healing. Stress slips away very easily in this state. Sleep is deep and dreamless. The Delta state has been noted as having a good effect in terms of healing on both the adrenal and limbic systems. Something which in turn has led to it’s perceived positive effect on conditions such as PTSD.
After a few more trips I decided to get brave & try something new. Being a bit of a color genius, he recommended departing from the blonde life to try being a redhead -- the very color that had done me wrong so many times before. But having experienced his work firsthand, I put my hair in his hands as I listened to him shouting color codes to his assistant and then once again, away he went for bowls of magic (insert major deep-breath moment). The results were nothing short of incredible. Not only was color beautiful, it complemented my skin tone & eye color as if it was always supposed to be that way.

I believe that there is a frequency at which a brain functions, they can vary depending on circadian rhythm or other factors. You can check the various effects on the brain caused by varying frequencies. Check this link -> Binaural beats. When we expose our brain to isochronic/binaural beats, it has a resonating effect on the brain, i.e. the brain starts to alter its frequency in order to synchronise with the tone. Once the specific frequency is achieved, you will have the desired effect (depending on the specific frequency you are trying to induce).
Yoga poses can also be great stress relievers. “Power posing” takes good posture one step further and can help you take control of your stress. “Consider using a superhero power pose to fight off stress,” Dr. Serani says. “Research states that posing like Superman—arms crossed, legs apart, and chin up—can bring forth feelings of strength.” In addition, some poses derived from yoga can also help you feel empowered (like the warrior pose) or calm (like the cat pose). “Shashankasana, or moon pose, can be done with buttocks placed on the folded legs and bending forward completely, head on the ground in front of the knees,” says Savita Joshi, E-RYT, MBA, B.E, a yoga therapist at Yoga Bharati. “During stress, one may stay in this pose longer with knees kept apart so that hips can lower down on to the heels and head touches the floor. This pose improves the blood circulation in the head region, and directs the vital energy toward it.”
The mechanism for this is that when your eyes or ears are exposed to a particular frequency of pulses or beats, the thalamus first distributes this information to the entire brain, including the visual and cerebral cortex where neural activity begins to synchronize to the incoming frequency, producing hemispheric synchronization and a balance of brainwave activity across the brain.
However, black cohosh does come with some warnings. It should not be taken by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women with estrogen-induced breast cancer or the risk of breast cancer, and those with liver issues, should not take black cohosh, as it has been found in some, but not all studies to exacerbate problems with breast cancer and liver disease.
Placebos do not work on me. Heck, even some low-mid doses of proven, effective medicine do not work. Or work well. Ever since I fell terribly ill in grade school, my brain had fundamentally changed. Before, I could comprehend anything. Tell me, show me and I understood it – no matter how advanced it was. I was in the top 98th percentile in the nation. BUT, you never know what you have until it is gone!
There's nothing like anxiety to annihilate your sense of humor. It would follow, then, that it's impossible to feel stressed when you're hunched over in a fit of giggles. Studies have shown, in fact, that laughter not only relieves tension, but actually improves immune function. Swap jokes with your friends. Rent a funny movie. Stop taking things so seriously!
it says the following: “Running a delta sleep session throughout the night is not recommended as it can interrupt the normal sleep cycle”. I’ve been looping pure delta isochronic tones for about 5 days now, and have had quality sleep. Should I continue looping delta or should I let the videos play out without looping them? Will it will harm my health to do loop delta while I sleep?
Anyone who has sought out different methods for enhancing cognitive ability will probably have come across a technique known as Brainwave Entrainment. However, it is a fairly niche area of brain training, meaning that this form of stimulation is often overlooked in favour of more mainstream methods. The following outlines what Brainwave Entrainment actually is, how it is used, and some of the benefits attributed to it.

Maybe a favorite popular song, a certain piece of Classical music, a raucous dance beat, the pulse of Reggae, Indian, or African drums, or the chanting of Gregorian or Tibetan monks, but you probably know how the sound of music, drumming, or chanting is capable of transporting you into an altered and joyous state of mind and uplifting your spirits.
Gamma brainwaves occur during creative thinking and processing of memory and language and in many learning activities. These brainwaves are not present at all when a person is under anesthesia, but return as soon as the person becomes conscious again. Multiple scientific studies have shown gamma brainwave entrainment to be helpful for reducing distractibility, improving short-term memory, improving motor coordination, and relieving migraine headaches.
Transparent Corp's Research Area is arguably the most comprehensive resource for collated brainwave entrainment research.   Update: the main research area on Transparent Corp's website is currently being updated, so it is offline.  However, you can still access their peer-reviewed research paper as a PDF here: “A Comprehensive Review of the Psychological Effects of Brainwave Entrainment“.
I had my first balayage color and haircut with Chris. I am extremely low maintainence with my hair... Chris colored and styled it in a way I can manage on a day to day basis. Prices are super reasonable... using the Yelp first time discount, I paid less than $150 for the balayage, hair cut and blowout. The salon is beautiful and clean -- a perfect addition to downtown troy.

These days it doesn't take much to stress people out. Being on edge just from living in the fast paced modern world is often enough to put people precariously close to panic and anxiety attacks, insomnia and bad eating habits. These side effects of stress can combine to cause short and long-term complications if someone doesn't regulate their stress levels. If you are looking for a natural, non-pharmaceutical way to reduce stress, consider brainwave entrainment.
Really great stuff here, man. Well done! Without taking anything away from the article it would have been great to have under one “roof” similar information about hypnotherapy and subliminals. I invested quite a lot in buying binaural cd’s but after reading your material I think that for short term effects isochronic tones rather than binaurals are the technology to go for now. For longer lasting and possibly permanent effects I’m not sure whether I should go for hypnosis or subliminals (or both). An article as well written and comprehensive as yours but focusing on hypnosis vs subliminals would have completed the circle for me. The stuff I’ve read so far on binaurals vs isochronics hasn’t really done it for me. Any chance you could give it a shot?
I just wanted to thank you guys for having such an outstanding product available. I used to meditate when I was younger but got away from it over the last 7-8 years. I had difficulty starting back up, but since I started using your cds I have no difficulties getting back into it; and am now meditating 2 hours per day and have never felt better. I have only been using them for a couple weeks but have already noticed a difference. Thanks again for creating such a wonderful product and I will be sure to recommend it to everyone.
This is a brainwave meditation MP3 that will stimulate the Theta state of mind, allowing you to relax DEEPLY. On the surface you will hear a gentle rain and deep string sounds… underneath the MP3 uses a complex protocol which alternates stimulation between the left and right ears, and uses several ramps to reach the target brainwave frequency. It is useful for hyperactive people who have problems relaxing or entering trance like states.
Biofeedback enhancement: In 1981, researcher Arturo Manns discovered that 15 minutes of stimulation with isochronic tones enhanced biofeedback protocols for bruxism (grinding of teeth). They did this by increasing muscle relaxation superior than standalone biofeedback. Brainwave entrainment is different from biofeedback in that it does not allow the person to consciously control their brainwave state.
Hello Jason, this is an unusually thoughtful discussion. Thank you for all your expertise and your kind manner of presenting and moderating it. I’m wondering if you have any experience with this: ever since I’ve been exposed to theta wave music, without headphones, I have found it irritating. And this is in spite of the fact that when I was first handed a CD by someone I knew well and trusted he was so confident I’d love it It didn’t occur to either of us that I might not. This happened again recently, which is about 10 years later, when I heard it playing overhead at an acupuncture clinic. I felt restless and even irritated, unable to zone out, which is unusual for me, during the treatment. I realized that the quality of my irritation was similar to what I’d felt listening to that CD a decade ago.So I asked if it was theta wave music and she said yes. The acupuncturist said that some people, but a vast minority, really dislike the music. She said that the few people who dislike it are not simply neutral, but actively dislike it. And she also said, but most people like it a lot. I’m just wondering what kind of factors might be present that would make a person feel so irritated by this music?

In a recent national survey, 44 percent of adults said stress had caused sleepless nights at least once in the previous month. All that tossing, turning and staring at the ceiling can leave you feeling tired and more stressed the next day. If you’re caught in this vicious cycle of anxiety and insomnia, there’s good news: Simple stress relief techniques can help you sleep better and feel calmer.
In addition to understanding how exercise can help manage stress and the types of exercise to recommend for stress management, it is important to understand common barriers that might affect exercise participation in high-stress clients. Lack of time is the most commonly reported exercise barrier for individuals in general. A lack of motivation, fatigue, poor sleep habits, and poor dietary habits are factors associated with stress that can negatively impact exercise compliance and adherence (4). Common exercise barriers and stress-related health problems should be taken into consideration when developing an exercise prescription for high-stress individuals.
BEST EVER! came to CB salon because i needed to be saved from a bad highlight job at a previous salon. The FULL staff came to my rescue with ideas and techniques to correct my hair. i instantly felt at ease, as i could tell they were KNOWLEDGEABLE and truly wanted to help me :)) Nicole was my colorist, very sweet and pretty. she did an UNBELIEVABLE job! i smiled the whole way home. i made my next appointment and could not be more thrilled that my life long search for the perfect salon is finally over. while i was there Christopher had a client and gave her an incredibly beautiful head of color, like.. jaw dropping. Also the salon itself is GORGEOUS! elegant, chic and bright with large windows. -sweet playlist with some staff karaoke :D I was in heaven with the hair angels!!! haha can't wait to come back!! THANK YOUUU

Deemed as the “the most relaxing brainwave”, delta waves are at their most active when you’re not- they appear when you’re asleep and reduce your overall sense of awareness. Associated with the sub-conscious to unconscious parts of the mind, delta brainwaves are said to be the opening to non-physical states of reality. As a result, this brain state is most often seen while one is in very deep meditation or dreamless sleep.
My name is [name removed] and I purchased the full Equisync set about 2 years ago and I’m very happy with this product. I still feel and notice euphoric and life changing effects to this day and I’m so grateful for this fact. I continue to follow the research on this subject and know that as science and technology advances a more quality product can be produced.
The implications and potential benefits of brainwave entrainment technology are staggering, and a seemingly infinite amount of doors have been opened to be explored.  This technology is highly useful in the self-help/personal development field in a variety of ways.  It can also be used to enhance NLP and hypnosis recordings to make the mind more receptive to suggestion.  Brainwave entrainment can be applied to help people fall asleep, to improve focus and concentration, or to relax.  Recent and modern experiments are also being held to see if brainwave entrainment may help  to treat and/or cure mental “disorders” such as depression or ADD.  One of the most common and popular uses of brainwave entrainment is to effortlessly induce deep meditative states.
By exposing the brain to special computer generated tones that are pulsed at a specific rhythmic frequency, the brain will synchronize its own electrical impulses to that same frequency. This means the brain becomes "entrained", or matched, to the specific frequency of the pulses, which gives you the ability to choose the primary frequency you want to experience in your brain. By guiding the brain into deeper (slower) frequency brainwave patterns, you can induce a profoundly deep state of relaxation and meditation with almost no effort.
Theta stimulation: There appears to be no benefit associated with using theta stimulation for cognitive functioning, mood, or stress relief. While theta may be a useful way to induce sleep or alter your state of consciousness, there really isn’t much science supporting entrainment in this particular range for most purposes. Photic stimulation of theta between 5 Hz and 7 Hz can be useful for headaches.
Thanks for making Brain Wave the Top Selling Brainwave Entrainment app in the App Store! * The main focus of this update is the Landscape UI for iPad * Note: Headphones/Earbuds are Required for Binaural Tones to be Effective as the Left Ear and Right Ear Audio must be isolated for the Brain to perceive the inaudible low-frequency difference between the two sides.

This unique session works the opposite to most sessions. It attempts to  ‘dis-entrain’ the brain, breaking stuck thinking patterns and allowing a fresh way of thinking. The recording contains random and chaotic isochronic tones spanning 7.83 to 18 Hz, played over a background of gamma-embedded noise. Use this session to sit back and allow fresh ideas and new connections to form. Finishes at the illuminating14Hz sensorimotor rhythm frequency.
